Rating for EAU
All in all I was looked after very well indeed, my only real concern is the food, sadly inedible.
I needed to be admitted to hospital for anti sick medicine and re hydration fluid. If this could have been administered at home, possibly by a district nurse or practice nurse, time and money and beds could be saved all round.

I have been coming for three years. I lost my driving licence but after 6 month drug trial treatment the doctor told me to put in for licence again, which I have got back. They told me before I started having a needle in my right eye I would go blind. I am very happy to carry on with this treatment.

Broken Hip - told going home. Husband on way and I was coming out door. Told going tomorrow as ready to go. Told then I could discharge myself if I wanted to. Not best experience because felt lacking in care. Nurses were lovely. Was a mixed ward, but not bothered. Was moved because ward was noisy and for my benefit they said. But I was used to nurses in first ward.

Please pass on to all the staff my thanks as noted above, ref to my recent Hernia operation in the November 2015.......along with my other visits etc to the Lincoln County Hospital leading up to the aforementioned.
It can't be easy maintaining high standards every time, when confronted with so many people in need of attention on a daily basis, at the same time confronted with Targets etc.......I know only to well what it is like working with the Public and the varying attitudes etc.
It goes without saying, it really underscores the Professional standard of all concerned. ......Well done everybody..........My grateful thank's to you all .......

Maternity/Breast Unit
This is the fourth year following breast cancer diagnosis and full treatment including surgery. These annual check-ups with a breast surgeon are essential to me feeling confident and able to move on with my life. Each examination is accompanied with a mammogram - the results of which have been provided on the same day however I fully understand that there is no need for this. Only 2-3 weeks wait will inform me if there is a problem, was told a letter will be sent if nothing is found and I am fully satisfied with this support.

Excellent service and staff really pleasant, everyone really caring.I have been impressed the whole time.Travel 30 miles every week and make appointments on same day or over two days. Lucky to have transport. It is a busy service, but so good I accept wait, everyone feeling the same. Day admitted I was told there was a bed but when arrived I sat for 5 hours which was pretty bad. Scared at the time, but for day to day appointments I accept the wait.

The medical staff at the hospital are excellent and always have been. They are caring and professional and always have the best interests of the patients as their first priority.
When I turn onto the page listing the 'team' frankly it sickens me. The 'team' represent every thing that is wrong with this country. The 'team' is a faceless bunch of people who are never visible in the hospital unless there is an opportunity to show some other faceless non-entity around the hospital. When this happens money flows like water but when a room needs repainting to improve the working conditions of the wonderful staff, there is suddenly nothing available.
The question I would like to ask is; 30 years ago hospitals in say three counties were rung very effeciently by a board with less than a quarter of the current stage found in two county hospitals. The salaries they were paid were not a drain on the National Health Service, Why are the "team' so expensive and yet so incompetent?

5/5

Ingham ward they are amazing. recently was admitted to waddington ward overnight and the care there was exceptional too. Over the past 5 yrs I have had 4 major operations. 3 of them in lincolnshire. My husband has had several issues I have needed to call an ambulance on at least 4 occasions. The care received has always been wonderful although the waiting times at A+E have sometimes been horrendous. We have no issues with our GP although it is not always easy to get an appointment. Although I have given 4/5 stars I would comment that not having been in hospital for twenty years nurses do not have the time to 'nurse' as before and wards have become extremely noisey places and I was lucky not to be staying there long. Even blood pressure machines beeped too loudly surely in this day and age they could be quieter.

Recently posted in RAF, been here before. Tried to phone our old no. of 2013 to inform me of cancellation, new no. 2016 not on notes. Not a big deal for me but might have been for those less mobile or relying on transport.

Sometimes you can wait 2 1/2 -3 1/2 hrs How they get so far behind, one wonders why. one other thing, the toilets very often they are out of order as we know they are used very much.

I regularly attend ENT and always (almost) have to wait - anything up to 45 minutes. I was to have an audiology test prior to appointment and they had gone home before I was called in. With no reception there is no one to ask when these hiccoughs occur and I expect the same at my next appointment.

On the whole very good. The doctor I saw today did not seem to make allowances for my mother being quite deaf e.g. he did not always face her when speaking to her.
GP did not seem to take my mother's symptoms seriously - swelling in legs and great pain. He did not examine her legs.
Also poor and slow communication between GP and hospital.
Doctor at hospital also did not know my mother had had an ECG on her 5 weeks ago!

I was discharged on the afternoon of the day I was out of bed for the first time. My wife was only given 3 hours notice of this, resulting in no home care in place despite the fact that I was very unstable walking with the aid of a walking frame. More notice would have made life less stressful.

The nurse that welcomed me, only a few moments after arriving at clinic 1 was very polite and considerate. On arriving at out patients NRS transport driver was unable to offer a wheelchair for me hence I had a very painful struggle to get to clinic 1. Dr Matthew was clear and concise in explaining the findings of the DEXA scan, he also expressed the need to continue the medication that I have been prescribed.
The only other thing that caused me to give a 4* was due to not having a wheel chair available to get to clinic1. The nurse that cared for me initially had managed to locate one for my return trip to outpatients entrance to await the NRS transport Driver She had been most helpful and considerate in both directions

The computer was down so x-rays couldn't be viewed. It would be a good idea to have a back up system. Perhaps x-rays could be printed out in the x-ray dept and included in the notes. A paper x-ray actually works quite well held up to light but I expect other materials are available.

3/5

Maternity unit
Take a long time to get back, very rushed. Midwife was slow to reply, still hasnt a week on. Think staff are rushed, they need more resources as when they do reply they are lovely.

Follow up appointments have serious problems. Mine due by end of July and told there's a backlog and it could be October 2015 but not sure until the secretary sends the date down to the follow up appointments department!

3/5

Needs more commodes on New Orthopaedic Ward

3/5

This was a follow up appointment as I was less than satisfied with the off hand attitude of consultant following a colonoscopy.
I have always found the treatment received at ULHT supurb. lately cracks are developing and the consultants are not really treating the whole person rather just the symptoms. If the GP referral is not good then it makes life difficult with the consultant, as I have witnessed.

MRI scan at Lincoln because I had been having trouble with legs - showed up it was caused by worn discs trapping nerves. Follow up with consultant who contradicted the x-ray findings. There should be a system to recompense patients when appointments are cancelled. i.e Taxi, Car parking,Busses etc .

3/5

Very efficent

Though the treatment is good it varies as ward to ward. Often agency nurses seem to be some times little more than decoration. Would recommend hospital in emergencies. Waiting time s for results are far too long, which can make follow up services sometimes useless. Ratings for Digby Ward
Digby Ward, some nurses off hand, did not follow up on requests, took a long time to answer bell pushes, and some not sympathetic to injuries. ie. lifting patient with q broken arm and using broken arm (twice), Beggars belief.
Nurses in all wards need to show patience and sympathy and need to follow up in requests etc. Some requests were never followed up. Some nurses were rather inept, others were very good, but unfortunately in the minority. Some of the curtains in the ward windows were hanging loose and did not close.

Waited for member of staff to surface at Clinic 5 to be told my son wasn't on the system. After investigation the "appointment" was changed to the day before. I even contacted the hospital last week to confirm this appointment.

The hospital staff, from reception to cardiologist were extremely kind and caring throughout, although I feel I must especially commend the consultant, who in the nicest possible way, making me aware that I now have no good treatment options whilst reminding me that this in no way stops me surviving several years yet - with luck.
Please try to provide adequate parking for patients and visitors, especially in respect of blue badge holders, of which I am one. I had to wait 20 minutes to get a space which made me late for my appointment.

The nursing staff were great but the healthcare support workers were not very good when it came to assisting with my dads hygiene needs. It took at least 25 minutes for them to answer the buzzer. Full urine bottles were left in his room for more than 24 hours despite my dad telling the staff they were full. He also asked for a wash but the staff didn't carry this out, my mum ended up washing him. It is evident that patient care is lacking. It is not the first time that a relative of mine has been treated less than favorably at Lincoln county hospital

I took my unconscious daughter to a&e in my car. I asked for help but non given. The receptionist was sat eating biscuits! Other patients came to my aid, putting my daughter in a wheelchair and holding her up. Staff ignored us. When seen the sister in charge asked me if my daughter had a drink. I said yes thinking water. She assumed she was drunk. I tried explaining her condition. Two other nurses came. One said to The sister drugs? The sister said yes. No my daughter was ill and no one asked what had happened. My daughter was in agony when she came round and was vomiting. She was denied pain relief due to vomiting and being in the corridor. The lack of care and assumptions were shocking. My daughter has a condition and is under a Neaurologist and awaiting referral to a gynocologist and kidney specialist. I was not given chance to tell them as they said parents do not know what their children do. My daughter was with me all day before and during the time she fell ill

Following an X-Ray the patient was transferred from Louth to Lincoln. At that point things went wrong. (Louth very good). Waited ages in A&E then transferred to a ward not suited to patients needs. Bed, no buzzer so didn't get attention. No gluten free food, no communication about dietary needs.
The patient found it a very poor excuse for a hospital. Doctors were fine. Nurses were not sympathetic and lacking skills and care. No buzzer a MAJOR problem so lacked attention.
