Healthwatch Lincolnshire Volunteer Roles | Healthwatch Lincolnshire

Volunteering with us

Whether you want to help give a voice to people in your community or develop your professional skills in a health and social care environment, there are many benefits of volunteering for us.

Community Listener & Local Community Champion

A ‘Community Listener’ gathers feedback from the public by attending GP surgeries, hospitals, libraries, Council Offices and other public places. These opportunities take place every week and take 3-4 hours.  As a ‘Local Community Champion’, you will help promote the work of Healthwatch Lincolnshire in your local town or village by taking leaflets and surveys to local groups and venues. Flexible time commitment.

Mystery Shopper

A ‘Mystery Shopper’ will go into a health or social care environment, like a hospital ward, with a checklist.  You will note things like; signage, notices, cleanliness and accessibility, you will not be talking to patients, instead you are using your initiative and the checklist to see what a patient would see and experience. This usually takes around 30 minutes and can be done alone or in pairs.

Reader Panel, Newshound and Health & Care Researcher

As part of the ‘Reader Panel’ you will provide feedback on reports and leaflets produced by Healthwatch and other local health organisations to ensure they would be easily understood by the public.  Flexible time commitment; this role is great if you find travel away from home difficult.

The ‘Health & Care Researcher’ and ‘Newshound’ roles would suit someone who understands the NHS systems. You will look at websites and research the latest local and national health and social care information, then produce simple summaries, ensuring all issues are brought to the attention of Healthwatch Lincolnshire.  Both roles have a flexible time commitment.

Enter and View Authorised Representative

An ‘Enter and View’ representative gathers people’s experiences whilst they are actually receiving Health or Care services i.e. Care Homes and Hospital Wards etc., which then creates a report for providers to help develop and improve services. This role requires additional training as you will be talking to vulnerable patients. Training for this role is 1-2 days and the Enter and View visits can take up to 4 hours.

Volunteer Ambassador

A Volunteer Ambassador attends community events and groups, not only gathering feedback and views from the public, but giving short talks about Healthwatch Lincolnshire and how we influence change and bring about improvements in local health and social care services.

Volunteer Administrator – Healthwatch Lincolnshire

This role involves volunteering in the Healthwatch Office at Swineshead helping with administrative tasks. Flexible, as and when required.
