Volunteering - it’s the Word! - October

Friday 4 October is World Smile Day.  Credited to Harvey Ball, an American commercial artist who is recognised as the designer of a popular smiley graphic, it’s a day to do an act of kindness, share compassion and help one person smile!  

A smile is a great way of communicating, we know our volunteers always greet people with a smile – a smile knows no language barriers, take little effort and can mean so much. Encouraging the public to share their, sometimes difficult, health and social care experiences can be challenging, so greeting everyone with a smile can go a long way to starting a conversation.
