NHS National Medical Director, Professor Stephen Powis, along with colleagues from Public Health England and the Department of Health and Social Care, have urged those at risk of suffering from flu to ensure they get their free NHS vaccination this winter.

The flu vaccine is the best protection we have against what is an unpredictable virus. Flu can trigger unpleasant symptoms, from tiredness and headaches to difficulty sleeping and sickness, to severe illness for those who are most vulnerable. Getting vaccinated not only reduces the risk of catching flu, but also the chance of passing the virus to others.
