NHS campaign to help patients avoid long hospital stays

The ‘Where Best Next?’ campaign, which aims to help tens of thousands more people avoid lengthy stays in hospital, is being rolled out nationwide as part of The NHS Long Term Plan. The campaign encourages NHS doctors, nurses and other staff to ask themselves ‘Why not home? Why not today?’ when planning care for patients recovering from an operation or illness.

In partnership with Health Education England, NHS England have also launched a new e-learning tool, developed for health service and care staff, to help them reduce hospital delays and ensure patients are cared for in the best place for them.
