Free virtual workshops offered to help parents and carers support the mental wellbeing of children and young people

Lincolnshire’s mental health, learning disability and autism NHS trust is pleased to announce a number of free virtual workshops to help parents and carers support their children’s emotional wellbeing.

The pandemic has been hard on everyone, especially children and young people, so it is vital that as things slowly start to go back to normal there is the support available to care for their mental wellbeing as they readapt and readjust.

Healthy Minds Lincolnshire, a Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LPFT) service, which provides emotional well-being and support for children and young people in the county, has arranged a number of interactive virtual workshops over the summer months to help parents and carers understand how to best support their child’s emotional wellbeing.

Throughout August and September, various workshops will take place to help parents and carers of children between the ages of five and 16 with coping strategies and techniques on how to best manage their child’s anger and worries.

There is also a discussion group to help parents and carers with children who have anxiety and special educational needs.

Sophie Wilson, Interim Service Manager for Healthy Minds Lincolnshire, said: “Children and young people across the country had their lives turned upside down by the pandemic, having to adjust to changes in their education, routine and home life and this has resulted in many feeling anxious and worried.

“We want to provide parents and carers with the tools and support they need in order to best understand how they can support their children with their emotional wellbeing.

“These workshops are designed to help parents and carers to support children and to help them build resilience and to learn new techniques to manage their emotions.”

Places on the workshops are limited so early booking is advised.
